Hi I read your posted story. Mine is similar.. I had a spontaneous vag. delivery 3 1/2 weeks early on 11-29-02. I immediatly started hemorrhaging. Doctor's tried for 2 hours to stop the bleeding. I was rushed into surgery and had a hysterectomy to save my life. I had 5 units of blood. At one point in the ordeal they were unable to find pulses in my wrists. I stayed in the hospital for 6 days only to be readmitted the next day for 4 more days for severe dehydration. I was explained that I had "uterine atony". I am trying to find out WHY. My baby was presenting face first. This is a very uncommon way for a baby to be in the birth canal and usually they are delivered by c-section. I am trying to find out if this could have been reason for the uterine atony. This was my first child. I was 32 yrs. at the time of delivery.
