Brain: There are many many articles about Pitocin and it's affects on not only the infant but also the mother. Go to www.google.com and type in Pitocin and it will give you hundreds of reports. I can't give a professional view, but I am going to give you and everyone else who will listen the honest answer from my heart. Pitocin can be dangerous. My 9 year old has Asperger's (high functioning autism) and yes I had Pitocin. I do not have contractions when I go into labor. My membranes just rupture and that is all, so with both of my labors I had Pitocin. Had I known that my oldest had this before I had my second son they would of NEVER given me Pitocin. My second child has a list of issues, I know for a fact two of his disorders are from the Pitocin and we just recently had him in the hospital and the neurologist confirmed to me that he felt Pitocin played a huge part in what is wrong with him. He has Horner's Syndrome and occipital epilepsy. Doctors and drug companies will always deny connections between neurological problems in our children and the use of Pitocin. They don't want sued or to admit that there is a connection. Read the stories of millions of people who are making the connections. How can one deny this when it is too similar? I can't change the past for my boys but I can be a voice to tell others, don't make the same mistakes as I have. Please..... try another alternative. If your one child already has autism don't take the chance. God Bless You, Mary
