Elijah's Mom: Hello. I am sending you a website that I think will help you. It is http://eilat.sci.brooklyn.cuny.edu/newnyc/DRUGS/OXYTOCIN.htm I think I was given too much Pitocin also. I am told that most doctors order it on a scale according to how you are responding to it. The nurse should be able to adjust it according to your response. I think that instead of starting off with the lower amout, I was given the highest. My doctor had told me I would deliver in 4-6 hours and I had Aaron in 15minutes and was in terrible pain. Aaron has medical problems also which I know stem from a "rapid birth". He was severely bruised at birth from midchest up. I personally will NEVER allow Pitocin be given to myself or anyone that is a family member. It is a drug with too much room for error and since no one is sure how your body will react to it until you have it..I feel it is just plain to risky to take. Hope the site helps. Mary
