I've been reading this page and looking up information on pitocin because my sister has been induced. Her due date was may 15th and the doctor said if she hadn't gone into labor by then he would induce her. Her first baby was 9 pounds so his reasoning is he doesn't want this one to get too big. But this sounds dangerous to me! I read pitocin should be used 2 weeks after the due date and other special circumstances. It sounds like it's overused! This doctor doesn't have the best reputation in our town. I have a close friend who almost lost her baby because he didn't notice the umbilical cord was wrapped around the neck during an ultrasound. She had 4 weeks left until her due date and went home thinking everything was okay. She had some pain so she went to the hospital worried that something was wrong. He did a c-section right away but if not for her having that feeling, who knows what would have happened. My sister was induced yesterday and still hasn't had her baby. I'm worried, can anyone email me? It looks like this board isn't used very often though...well even if someone reads this message too late. I still believe pitocin is used too often. I've never had a child but I wouldn't get an induced labor for the conveniance of the doctor or myself.
Just for the record, all information posted here are personal experiences/stories. There are no Doctors/Nurses answering questions on the board. This board is for sharing stories so we can learn from each other! If you have any problems with the board, please email me at Angela4KP1@comcast.net
