Oh my! I can really relate to you. I am 29, just had our first child 6 months ago. We have a beautiful boy, Andrew Michael. Here is some of our story. I was 39 weeks pregnant and had gestational diabetes bad! Due to the diabetes my OB/GYN decided to induce me. I was dialated to 3cm when we were admitted to the hospital at 5:45AM. At 8:30AM she came in, broke my water. At 12:30, I decided the pain was enough and asked for the Morphine block. An epiderral was never a choice. At 1:00PM I was checked and was dilated to 3 1/2cm and the Pit was still going strong. At 5:15PM was checked again after her last patient and was dilated to 4cm. At that point she decided to do an emergency c-section. I was prepped and wheeled to the opertating room at 6:15PM. At 6:45PM Andrew was born. There were so many things going on that I just don't know what happened. My husband did tape part of the delivery, but the picture is still not clear and he does not want to talk about it. Andrew and my husband were then escorted upstairs while they sewed me up. The I hear my OB say that Michelle, I am sorry, you are hemmoraging and in order to save your life I have to do a hysterctomy. At that point I was so drugged! I asked my husband if he had signed a consent and he said no, only to give me blood. I still don't know if any one signed for this, didn't care at the time, and I guess being here with my little guy it doesn't matter. I received 2 pints of blood. Shortly after delivery found out that Andrew had gone breech and that they suctioned him out. However the first attempt the suction came off. He is now after 6 months healed from his hemotoma. (briuse on the head). As far as we know Andrew has had no side effects from the Pit. His doctor tells us he is more advanced for his age. We'll see. The worst part is that I was awake throughout the whole proceedure and that is forever engraved in my mind. I hear it, see the nurses and doctors runing around. A pure nightmare. I have been in counseling for 5 months and have now graduated. I think I am weaker then I really am. I know that I am strong. I too have ovaries. Looked in surrogant motherhood, but can't afford it. Would be nice if the company who made Pit would pay for that for us. I am really horrified finding this web site. I had not made the connection. I have been to wrapped into looking into adoption. Thanks for your story!
