Before I tell my story let me just say that I'm pregnant again and terrified to get induced or another C/S. On 8/16/99 I was three days overdue and my blood pressure was very high so they induced me. I was already having contractions but I was only about 2cm dilated. They started the Pitocin around 6ish and broke my water soon thereafter. I dilated to 5cm and got an epidural about 11pm. My Dr. had an acquaintance, another Dr. not from his group who kept coming in because she had a patient in labor too. They were "hanging out" I swear. This other Dr. came in and raised my Pitocin. My sons heart rate kept crashing, they kept flipping me from side to side. My contractions had no spaces between them. My son was in distress. My Dr. came in screaming at the nurses thinking they upped my drip. I don't know what time they brought me to the OR. All I know was it was quick. They strapped me down and made the incision and I felt it. They started pulling him out and I was involuntarily throwing up. They were trying to put a mask on me but I was vomiting too much. I felt every staple and my stomach was full of air because they had to keep stopping because my body was jerking from the vomiting. At 3:47am my son was taken out of me bloody, because the Dr. cut his eye when he cut me so I didn't get to see him until the next day. When the section was over the anesthesiologist told me that the epidural moved out of place, his words were "fell out due to the flipping around". My Dr. high tailed it out of there and never ordered my shot of Demerol. I cried in recovery for hours waiting for my shot, in immense pain. So, wish me luck in July, EDD 7/01. I think this site is great. I am so glad people can learn about the dangers associated with this drug.
